Teriyaki Beef Burgers

If you’ve never made burgers in the Foodi™ before, you will love how easy it is—not just the cooking part, but the cleanup, too. Cleaning a grill is one of my least favorite cooking chores after grilling burgers, but the Foodi™ is so easy to clean that I no longer hesitate when the family suggests burgers for dinner. Flavorful teriyaki beef burgers are a delicious Asian-inspired, tropical twist on this classic family favorite.

VARIATION TIP:

To enhance the Asian-inspired flavors, try serving the burgers with rice vinegar slaw and hoisin or teriyaki sauce instead of ketchup and mustard. Chop up leftover burgers for a ramen noodle lunch.

STORAGE:

Wrap each burger individually in plastic wrap or aluminum foil, then transfer to airtight containers and refrigerate for up to4 days or freeze for up to 1 month.

Ingredients

  • 2 pounds 80% lean ground beef
  • 1 tablespoon minced garlic (about 2 garlic cloves)
  • 1 tablespoon minced fresh ginger
  • 2 teaspoons sesame oil
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce or coconut aminos
  • 2 teaspoons finely sliced scallions
  • 1 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
  • 6 slices pineapple
  • 6 hamburger buns

Instructions

Step 1
Select SEAR/SAUTÉ on your Ninja® Foodi™ and set the temperature to HI. Select START/STOP to begin. Let preheat for 5 minutes.

Step 2
Meanwhile, in a large bowl, mix together the ground beef, garlic, ginger, sesame oil, soy sauce, scallions, salt, and pepper. Form 6 burger patties of similar size, each one about 1 inch thick.

Step 3
Place the patties in the Foodi™ pot in a single layer. If they do not all fit in one layer, you may need to work in batches. Sear the patties for 2 to 3 minutes per side, until browned. Select START/STOP.

Step 4
Place the Deluxe Reversible Rack in the lower steam position without the Deluxe Layer installed and lower the rack into the Foodi™ pot. Place 3 burgers on the rack. Next, install the Deluxe Layer on the rack and place the remaining burgers on it.

Step 5
Close the crisping lid. Select AIR CRISP, set the temperature to 400°F, and set the time to 5 minutes. Select START/STOP to begin.

Step 6
When the cooking is complete, open the lid and remove the burgers. The burgers are fully cooked when their internal temperature reads 130°F to 135°F for medium-rare, 150°F to 155°F for medium-well, or 160°F to165°F for well done on a food thermometer.

Step 7
Place a slice of pineapple on top of each burger, and place the topped patties between hamburger buns to serve.
