EWG health guidelines
The following Information and data has been provided by the Environmental Working Group's Tap Water Database, an educational campaign designed to raise public awareness about water. EWG’s Tap Water Database was developed to compile tap water quality testing data from all 50 states and the District of Columbia that users can search to find detected contaminants in their utilities’ drinking water. EWG’s Tap Water Database provides information on the health effects of those contaminants and recommendations for levels of those contaminants to protect public health based on the best available science. Ninja Countertop Water Filtration System FAQs
How to filter water
Fill the Water Reservoir to the MAX FILL line with cold tap water and place back on the base. Drop your Filter straight down into place and push firmly down. Then, begin to dispense water.
How do water filters work?
Our filter combines size exclusion, selective adsorption, and more mechanisms in one. Adsorption filters use activated carbon (also called activated charcoal), made by treating carbon-rich material at high temperatures. This process creates an enormous number of microscopic pores.
A single gram of activated carbon can have a surface area of 500–1,500+ square meters. That massive surface area is what gives it so many binding sites for contaminants to attach to as water passes through. Clean water continues through the filtration, while trapped particles and substances stay behind.
Does filtering water improve the taste?
The Ninja HydraSense uses an adsorption filter certified to remove a wide range of harmful contaminants — including chlorine taste and odor, lead, PFAS, and more — while preserving natural minerals and electrolytes in your water. The result: smooth and refreshing tasting water that still has the minerals and electrolytes your body needs.
Does filtered water retain minerals and electrolytes?
Our water filter is designed to remove harmful contaminants while preserving natural minerals and electrolytes. It is not specifically formulated to alter pH, alkalinity, or water hardness. Results may vary depending on your local water supply. Please reference the performance data sheet (PDS) for full certified reduction claims.
What do water filtration systems remove?
The Ninja HydraSense uses an adsorption filter certified to remove 80+ contaminants like lead, PFAs and more.
What is filtered water?
Filtered water is water that's been passed through a filtration system designed to remove impurities, contaminants, or unwanted substances before it's used for drinking or cooking.
How often does a water filter need to be replaced?
The Ninja HydraSense filter should be replaced after 120 gallons (~6 months), when the rated capacity is reached, or when water flow decreases significantly. The display will alert you as the filter approaches the end of its life:
- Blue home screen = Excellent (100%-10%)
- Yellow home screen = Replace Soon (9%-1%)
- Red home screen = Expired (1% or less) - replace as soon as possible.
Is filtered water the same as distilled water?
No, distilled water is a type of purified water. It's water that has gone through a filtration process to strip not only of contaminants, but any natural minerals as well. The Ninja HydraSense filter removes harmful contaminants while preserving natural minerals and electrolytes — giving you cleaner water that still tastes great.
What is the difference between a Water Filtration System and Reverse Osmosis (RO)?
Unlike reverse osmosis systems that strip minerals from water, the Ninja HydraSense removes what's bad, keeps what's good, and fits right on your countertop with no installation required.
Does this water filter require home installation?
No. The Ninja HydraSense is a countertop water filtration system — no under-sink or plumbing installation is required. Simply fill the Water Reservoir with tap water and enjoy filtered water directly from your countertop.
What material is the water filter made of?
The Water Reservoir is BPA-free and PFAS-free, ensuring your filtered water stays clean and safe throughout storage and dispensing.
How often should I clean a countertop water filtration system?
We recommend: wiping down exterior surfaces daily as needed, rinsing the Water Reservoir weekly, washing dishwasher-safe parts monthly, and cleaning the unit thoroughly every time you replace the filter (~every 6 months or 120 gallons).
