McCormick named black currant its Flavor of the Year for 2026, citing its tart-sweet-floral profile and versatility.

Sweet with a balanced tang, black currant pairs well across both sweet and savory applications while adding a striking deep jewel-tone color. A lemonade base keeps the flavor approachable, refreshing, and perfectly suited for summer.

Directions

  1. Pour lemonade and lemon-lime soda into vessel #1 and pour black currant juice and lemon-lime soda into vessel #2.
  2. Select the DUAL SLUSHASSIST™ button in the center of the control panel to activate SLUSHASSIST in both vessels. The unit will sense ingredients for 10–15 minutes and set the texture for your beverage, displaying in BLUE on the temperature range.
  3. Once frozen drinks reach optimal temperature, the unit will beep, all LEDs will be solid BLUE, and the READY indicator will illuminate. Adjust as needed using the temperature control buttons.
  4. Place a cup in the center of the drip tray and dispense by gently pulling the middle handle while spinning the drip tray using the front wheel. Release the handle when the cup is 3/4 full.
  5. Garnish if desired and serve immediately.
