Ingredients

DONUTS

  • 2 tablespoons flaxseed
  • 5 tablespoons water
  • 1/2 cup almond flour
  • 2 tablespoons tapioca or almond flour
  • 1/4 cup coconut flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons cinnamon
  • Kosher salt, as desired
  • 1/2 cup extra-ripe banana, mashed
  • 1/2 cup applesauce
  • 3 tablespoons melted coconut oil
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup almond butter
  • 3 tablespoons maple syrup
  • 1 tablespoon molasses
  • Nonstick cooking spray

ICING

  • 1 cup powdered monk fruit sweetener (or regular powdered sugar)
  • 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Plant-based milk, as necessary

SWIRL TOPPING

  • 2 tablespoons melted vegan butter or coconut oil
  • 2 tablespoons cashew butter
  • 1 tablespoon coconut sugar
  • 1/2 tablespoon cinnamon

Utensils needed

  • Donut Pan
  • Small Bowl
  • Two Large Bowls

Instructions

Step 1
Install the SearPlate in the bottom level of the unit, then close the door. Select RAPID BAKE, set temperature to 350°F, and set time to 15 minutes. Press the setting dial to begin preheating.

Step 2
In a small bowl, combine the flaxseed and water, then set aside.

Step 3
In a large bowl, add all the flours, baking powder, cinnamon, and salt. Whisk until combined.

Step 4
In a separate large bowl, add the banana, applesauce, coconut oil, vanilla extract, almond butter, maple syrup, and molasses. Whisk until combined.

Step 5
Add the flour mixture and flaxseed mixture to the wet ingredients and whisk until fully combined and smooth.

Step 6
Spray a donut pan with nonstick cooking spray, then evenly fill each donut mold 3/4 of the way with the prepared batter.

Step 7
When unit is preheated, open the door and place the donut pan on the SearPlate. Close the door to begin cooking.

Step 8
While the donuts bake, prepare the icing. In a large bowl, whisk together the powdered sweetener or sugar and vanilla extract. Add plant-based milk 1 tablespoon at a time until desired thickness is achieved.

Step 9
When cooking is complete, carefully remove the donut pan and place on top of oven. Let the donuts cool, then dip into the prepared icing. Transfer the donuts to a parchment-lined baking sheet.

Step 10
To prepare the swirl topping, combine all ingredients in a small bowl, then transfer to a piping bag. Drizzle each donut with the prepared swirl topping.
